Tiger Roar, Bamboo Wind · 虎啸竹风

A roaring tiger drives forward through bamboo, broken ink, and a great circular sweep of movement. Its open jaws and leading paw make the design immediate; the restrained gold marks give the black-and-grey composition a quiet pulse.

This is a one-of-one QIBURST tattoo design. Once purchased, the complete design is retired and is not licensed to another bearer.

The tiger at the boundary

In Chinese visual culture, the tiger has long carried the language of bravery and protective authority. Its presence can be read not only as force, but as the power to guard a line—to meet what approaches and decide what may pass.

That meaning gives the roaring face more depth than aggression alone. The tiger advances because something matters behind it. Its strength has a direction, and therefore a responsibility.

Why bamboo changes the meaning

Bamboo bends in hard wind and rises again without losing its form. In Chinese art it has often served as an image of resilience and upright character: flexible without being weak, hollow without being empty of principle.

Within this composition, bamboo runs through the tiger's darkness and the wide ink-circle above it. Courage and discipline are placed in the same image—the will to move forward, governed by the clarity to remain upright.

Brushwork translated to skin

The design balances precise facial lines with broad, weathered brush textures. Open skin between the tiger, bamboo, and circular stroke is part of the artwork; it keeps the animal from becoming a single heavy block and allows the movement to breathe.

A larger back, shoulder-to-chest, or outer-thigh placement is recommended so the eyes, jaws, leading paw, and gold bamboo details remain readable. The artwork should not be mirrored.

FOR YOUR TATTOO ARTIST

MADE TO BE TATTOOED — NOT SIMPLY COPIED

The supplied artwork establishes the composition and symbolic structure of the piece.

Your tattoo artist may make reasonable technical adjustments to line weight, scale and curvature so the design follows your body and ages properly in skin.

Its defining composition and symbolic relationships should remain recognisable.

SYMBOLIC, NOT PROMISSORY

Taoist, Five Element and qi language used throughout QIBURST designs is presented as cultural, philosophical and artistic symbolism.
