THE DESIGN
A guardian lion rises through layered cloud curls, with a bell and tassel gathered beneath its chin. The face holds the centre in stillness while the surrounding lines move outward, giving the shoulder a ceremonial, sculptural presence.
The design is built as one complete composition: alert eyes, cloud movement, bell and tassel work together to create a balanced vertical finish.
CULTURAL STORY & SYMBOLIC MEANING
Guardian lions are familiar threshold figures in Chinese architectural and decorative culture, often associated with watchfulness, stature and formal welcome. This is a contemporary artistic interpretation of that visual language, not a reproduction of a particular historic guardian or talisman.
The bell suggests attention and arrival; the cloud curls create movement around a composed centre. The Metal association is drawn from the bell, firm structure and crisp ornament, and is offered as symbolism for reflection rather than a claim about personal outcomes.
COMPOSITION & TATTOO TRANSLATION
Designed primarily for a 12–16 cm shoulder-cap placement, with the lion face upright and centred over the deltoid. It can also be scaled for the upper back or shoulder blade when the bell and tassel are allowed to fall vertically.
Keep the face, cloud curls, bell and tassel intact. Your artist may open only the tightest interior gaps for long-term clarity; the artwork must not be mirrored, cropped, split, or redrawn as separate ornaments.
