THE DESIGN
A symmetrical lion-dance visage unfolds through furred brows, wide alert eyes, cloud-like curls, and a descending chain of square-holed coins. Black linework carries the structure; small red accents give the eyes, mouth, and forehead roundel a controlled inner heat.
The face is held frontally so it reads with clarity from a distance, while the pendant chain keeps the composition moving vertically across the body.
CULTURAL STORY & SYMBOLIC MEANING
This is a contemporary tattoo interpretation of the visual language of Chinese lion dance — expressive brows, an animated mask, and a presence made through rhythm. Lion imagery also appears in festive and guardianship traditions, where it is associated with vitality and watchfulness.
The linked coin motif recalls the shape of historical Chinese cash coins. In this artwork it gives the lion a grounded downward rhythm: an image of attention, composure, and ceremonial presence rather than a promise of any outcome.
COMPOSITION & TATTOO TRANSLATION
Best at approximately 18–22 cm high on the upper or mid back, side abdomen, outer upper arm, or thigh. Keep the lion upright and preserve the full coin chain whenever possible so the design retains its pendant silhouette.
The supplied stencil preserves the approved line hierarchy. Your artist may make only the smallest practical spacing adjustments for the final body scale; the face, central roundel, coin openings, and orientation should not be mirrored or redrawn.
